The Kentucky elk herd is flourishing and estimated by the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife personnel to number close to 10,000 animals. The population growth is well ahead of the original model and expected to steadily increase.

The beautiful State of Kentucky has the largest herd of elk east of the Mississippi River. Because of this, Kentucky elk tags are a prized possession among elk-aholics. If you are not from the state of Kentucky, one of your toughest jobs will be to decide on a guide or outfitter. Preparing for your hunting trip should begin well in advance. The steep, rough and heavily vegetated terrain of Eastern Kentucky offers excellent cover for our elk. Elevations vary from around 1100" at the valley floor to up to 3200" on the ridge tops. Eastern Kentucky Elk are a real challenge to harvest by any measure.

Our hunts vary throughout the Kentucky elk season. As the Kentucky program evolves we have and will continue to evolve to provide all types of elk hunts. If you have a tag we have a hunt! We will do gun cow hunts, early season archery cow hunts, late season archery cow hunts, early season gun bull hunts, early season archery bull hunts, and late season archery bull hunts.

The most thrilling and challenging hunt we have to offer is the archery bull hunt. Hunting bull elk in rut could be compared to turkey hunting. Those that have experienced hunting a spring gobbler could say that bugling elk are like hunting 800 pound turkeys! It is a thrill to say the least! Dedicated elk hunters must arrive prepared for the anticipation of a bull elk standing 15 to 50 yards away (bugling his head off)…attempt to calm nerves and draw back your bow!

Full rut hunters see the most action. Our bull hunters can expect to be in elk everyday of their hunt. Our guides’ passion for elk hunting, enthusiasm for the sport, and expertise in the field, makes elk hunting with Grace Elk Outfitters one of the most exciting and enjoyable hunts possible. Some techniques we use during the rutting season are bugling, cow calling, sitting wallows and game trails, and stalking.

Here at Grace Elk Outfitters we take pride in offering a safe and professional hunt. Kentucky elk hunting trips are filled with memories to last a lifetime. We will strive to give you the very best hunt. Most guides begin booking their hunts as soon as lottery results are released. With Grace Elk Outfitters, you are given a choice of a fully guided hunt, semi-guided hunt or "on your own" with assistance available. A hunter will need to provide their own food and gear.

With more than 9 years of combined experience in Kentucky elk hunting and guiding, Grace Elk Outfitters wants to guide you in preparing for the elk hunt of a lifetime. Our goal is satisfied clients. Our hunts can be custom tailored to suit your hunting needs. We have horses for recovery and lodging available if needed.
